Fire Safety & Emergency Planning FREE Seminar

8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.

Cost: FREE

2024 Dates:

October is Fire Prevention Safety Month. In recognition of this, the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio is pleased to offer this FREE half-day seminar to our  MEMBER businesses.

This seminar will begin with a presentation on common fire hazards associated with businesses and best practices on how to prevent them and keep people safe

Additionally, the hazards and control measures for combustible dusts will be presented. Combustible dust has become an emphasis area for OSHA. Certain combustible substances, when divided into a dust-like form and suspended in air, can become explosive. Industries that have combustible dust include food (for example, candy, sugar, spice, starch, flour and feed), grain, tobacco, plastics, wood, paper, pulp, rubber, furniture, textiles, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, dyes, coal, metals (for example, aluminum, chromium, iron, magnesium and zinc) and fossil fuel power generation.

The seminar will conclude with a presentation on the requirements for fire extinguishers, training requirements, types of fire extinguishers and suppression  systems. The presentation will include the opportunity to use a fire extinguisher (weather permitting).
