The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is the public law that creates the framework for the proper management of hazardous and non-hazardous solid waste.
This course will instruct students on environmental laws, hazardous waste rules, DOT General Awareness & Familiarization and Container Management, Preparedness & Prevention. It will also cover the changes to the Universal Waste Rules in Ohio that took effect in December, along with information about the e-Manifest that becomes effective June 30, 2018.
Specifically, this course will focus on:
► Hazardous materials and hazardous substances legislation which affect Hazardous Waste Generators.
► Discussion and definition of hazardous wastes vs. solid wastes, the difference between large quantity vs. small quantity generators, the marking and labeling requirements for hazardous wastes, satellite accumulation and general waste management practices.
► Includes function specific DOT training for signing manifests.
► Correct DOT Waste descriptions, labeling, marking and placarding requirements.
► Explanation of the requirements for container management, accumulation time, satellite accumulation, and facility communications equipment, alarm systems and spill control equipment.
► Specific components of the regulations that apply to Large Quantity Generators and Small Quantity Generators.
Upon Completion of the presentation of the course material, a comprehensive review of all the information in a written test format consisting of True/False and multiple choice questions will be administered.
Lunch will be provided by the Safety Council.
